This is a snapshot from the antique shop in Detroit Lakes Minnesota

This group gathered for a photo with two cakes.  I wonder what they were celebrating? This photo was most likely taken ion the 1930’s or early 1940’s.

Happy New Year!  Thanks for reading and commenting!

  1. Short sleeves in the snow makes for a quick snap. They are hearty Minnesota folk so they are use to it. It is a great old photo.

  2. I wonder if it was for a double birthday. With a crowd that size--and multiple generations--it's possible two people's birthdays were being celebrated.

  3. Looks like one of the cakes has a number "1" candle on it, or maybe it's a 7. At any rate, L.D. hit it on head - those hearty Minnesota folks!!!

The Jeep on the left dates the photo somewhat, first produced in about 1941 - (but they all looked the same for decades!) - the car on the right is definitely pre-WWII.

  4. Isn't that a Jeep Willys in the background?
